Traveling Home Today

I can't even begin to put into words how great this time with family has been. I'm going to miss traveling and adventuring with my best friend and our two amazing children. I am truly thankful to our Lord for the family He has given us and for this precious time to make lasting memories.

Broke the 5,000 barrier

On day 19 of our trip we broke 5000 miles, with a little over 2000 to go. We started today in Tennessee (chattanooga) then drove through Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, then back to Tennessee (Shiloh), then back to Mississippi, then back to Tennessee (Memphis), and we are now currently driving in Arkansas, on our way to Little Rock. This is one beautiful country!

Cracker Barrel

After all the thousands of miles we have traveled, this is our first Cracker Barrel...yum yum!

Sam and Bekah training for their flight simulator. One's the pilot, the other's the gunner...oh boy!

Above my paygrade!

Ahhh the dark underbelly of the road trip. That's right... it's 6:30am and the family is out of clean clothes... laundrymats have changed significantly since Lori and I were in college. 25 quarters for one load of wash! Not 25 cents... 25 Quarters!!! I knew I was in trouble when I saw that the change machine took $20's. Worth it though, because I was able to stuff 60 pounds of laundry in one machine.

King's Dominion

Taking a break from US History and American Government lessons to spend the day at King's Dominion amusement park. We are such wimpy Californian's...we don't know how to handle this humidity. Yuck!!!

Washington Memorial at Night

Bekah and Bill snuck out for a very late night subway run to see this incredible monument in the lights!

Battlefield at Gettysburg

This morning I (Bill) had the privilege of looking out over the battlefield at Gettysburg as the sky turned from darkness to dawn. A thick mist laid over the battlefield much as it may have July 3rd 1863. On that day 12,000 of Lee's Confederate army attempted to cross this valley. Here at this very position however, 7,000 union soldiers held their ground. This is truly the sight of great honor, valor, and bravery!

Gettysburg, PA

We are about 2 hours from our nights stay in Gettysburg. Made our first visit to redbox for the kids. They are doing remarkable. Even though they liked NY, I think they were worn out after two full days of sight seeing. Earlier today they asked "when can we get back into the car?"
